WR, Michael Scott gets his flag snatched off by Medical’s defense as he tries to work his way downfield.
Marine Corps Warfighting Lab won their sixth flag football game of the season Tuesday against Medical at Freeney Field.

Despite suffering three penalties for unsportsmanlike conduct and having a player kicked out of the game, MCWL was able to get their act together long enough to defeat Medical.

‘‘We just [have] to get more organized,” said MCWL Coach Michael Rose. ‘‘But we’re doing better.”

MCWL made their first touchdown within the first minute of the game with a 40-yard pass by quarterback Jeff Bowers. The extra point put them in thelead 7-0.

Medical stuck with short passes and carries, but one 20-yard launch to the end zone was picked off by MCWL and carried back to the 20-yard line.

It wasn’t until the second half that Medical was able to break away on a run and score their first touchdown. With the extra point, Medical was able to tiethe game.

Late in the second half MCWL scored their second touchdown and extra point, pulling ahead 14-7 just before the end of the game.

‘‘The team put forth a good effort,” said Brandon Watts of MCWL. ‘‘We got the win.”

MCWL now has a standing record of 6-3 and will play again tonight at Freeney Field at 5:30 p.m.

‘‘We’re doing better with each game,” said Rose. ‘‘We’re just looking forward to keeping it going.”
