Pax River’s Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR), United Services Organization (USO) and the Fleet and Family Support Center (FFSC) partnered in recognition of October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
NAS Patuxent River service members, families and employees came out and walked together to end domestic violence. Over 100 people were in attendance.
The walk was kicked off with Pax River Commanding Officer Capt. Andy Macyko reading the proclamation. MWR and the USO supported walkers with fruit, drinks and snacks. Each child in attendance received either a book or DVD.
Domestic violence is among all age groups and social classes. The abuse is not only physical abuse. Some other forms of domestic violence include emotional abuse, coercion and threats, intimidation, isolation, sexual abuse and economic abuse.
