Fire alarm system repaired
The fire alarm system computer in the Fort Myer Fire Department dispatch center has been repaired, and the center is now able to receive automatic fire alarms coming in to it from Fort Myer, Henderson Hall and Arlington National Cemetery.

For more information, call (703) 696-3483.

Personal safety
The Fort Myer Military Community Police Department urges everyone to be aware of their surroundings and safety-conscious when traveling and walking, especially in the evening. Watch for construction at both Fort McNair and Fort Myer and obey signs on post whether you are walking or driving.

When walking off post — to Nationals Stadium from Fort McNair, for example — be especially cautious. Southwest D.C. has been the scene of several crimes in the last few years.

If you must go off-post when it’s dark, bring a buddy or travel in groups. If you have a choice, drive rather than walk or take a taxi to an off-post area. Trust your instincts. If a situation doesn’t look right, it probably isn’t. Some confrontations are unavoidable. Avoid injury by giving up your valuables.

For more information at Fort Myer, call (703) 696-3525, Bldg. 415, or Fort McNair at (202) 685-3139, Bldg. 32. Dial 911 in an emergency.
