579th Medical Group

The 579th Medical group consists of three squadrons located on Bolling Air Force Base.

The 579th Dental Squadron provides a full range of dental services to eligible beneficiaries, includingrestorative dentistry, prophylaxes (cleanings), endodontics,periodontics, prosthodontics, orthodontics and oralsurgery. The dental squadron is one of 11 in the Air Force that has an Advanced Education in General Dentistryresidency program, and is one of the largest Air Forceimplant centers on the East Coast. The squadron supports a suborndinate pascode located at the Pentagon andsupports a full dental team positioned in the Epes Dental Clinic on Ft. Meade, Md.

The 579th Medical Operations Squadron offers a full range of primary care services in Bldg. 1300. All care is available by appointment. The Medical Services Flight,located on the first floor, offers Family Practice, Pediatric Care, Women’s Health and Immunizations. The Behavioral Health Flight, located on the second floor, consists of three elements including Family Advocacy, Life SkillsSupport and Substance Abuse Services. Staffed to meet the behavioral health needs of the Bolling and Pentagon community, this flight provides individual and grouptreatment, stress, depression and anger management classes as well as sessions on parenting. There is noemergency room or urgent care center at Bolling.Emergency care is located at Andrews Air Force Base or the nearest emergency center at a military or civiliantreatment facility closest to the emergency. Baseambulance response is provided for emergencies on Bolling, Naval Anacostia, and the Navy Research Lab only and can be initiated by calling 433-3333.

The 579th Medical Support Squadron supports Team Bolling along with the eligible beneficiary population, Air Force District of Washington, the Department of Defense, and our nation's security by providing health support for the full range of military deployments and sustaining the health of members of the Armed Forces, their families, and others to advance our national security interests. The 579th Medical Support Squadron provides the highest standard of direct medical care and medical administrative services to Bolling units. These areas of expertise include pharmacy services, diagnostic imaging and clinicallaboratory support. Superior logistical and administrative support is also provided through information systemmanagement, facility management, medical equipment and supply processing, orderly room, resourcemanagement, patient administration, TRICARE services, Medical Readiness and referral management.

844th Communications Group

The 844th Communications Group providescommunications and information technology systems and services for the National Military Command Center, Headquarters United States Air Force, the Air Force District of Washington and other Air Force organizations within the National Capital Region. The group’s mission also includes travel communications support to the Secretary ofDefense, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force. The 844th Communications Group is composed of the headquarters and subordinate units at Andrews AFB, Md, Bolling AFB, D.C., and the Pentagon, Va.

The 844th Communications Group also provides a wide range of communications and information management services supporting all Air Force units in theNational Capital Region and Air and Space Expeditionary Forces around the globe. The group delivers voice,data, television, publishing, mail and mobile communications services. Group responsibilities include recordsmanagement, reprographics, Freedom of Information Act, Privacy Act and information assurance programs.

Other 844th Communications Group elements include the 744th Communications Squadron on Andrews AFB and the 844th Communications Squadron located in the Pentagon. The 744th Communications SquadronOperating Location Bolling provides direct support to the 11th Wing and other Bolling AFB tenants.

Air Force Surgeon General

The Office of the Air Force Surgeon General, located on Bolling, leads the Air Force Medical Service. The Air Force Surgeon General is the medical staff advisor to thesecretary of the Air Force and Air Force chief of staff and develops programs, plans and policies to assure the health and combat effectiveness of Air Force members.

The AFMS develops and operates a comprehensive community-based health care system to assure maximum wartime readiness and to maintain the health and morale of Air Force members. During contingencies, the health system rapidly expands, mobilizes and deploys to provide medical support for Air Force operations worldwide, and arranges timely, quality medical service for active duty members, their families and other beneficiaries.

The surgeon general’s office supports the Air Forcemission through planning and operating programs in aerospace medicine, military public health, environmental health and dental service.

This office develops long-range medical objectives for the Air Force, provides medical support of Air Force disaster and emergency activities, and formulates plans for the recruiting, education, training and utilization of AFMS members. Air Force Office of Special Investigations, 7th Field Investigations Squadron, Operating Location Alpha

The Air Force Office of Special Investigations, 7th Field Investigations Squadron, Operating Location Alpha(OL-A) is a field operating agency under the Washington Field Office, Andrews AFB, MD and responsible forproviding independent, professional, criminal and fraud investigative services for the 11th Wing and DefenseDepartment elements located on Bolling AFB, District of Columbia. OL-A focuses on identifying, exploiting and neutralizing activities that threaten Air Force and Defense Department resources and felony crimes includingrobbery, sexual assault and homicide.

In addition to OL-A, the Washington Field Office,Protective Service Division is located on Bolling AFBand consists of special agents who provide protectivesupport to the Secretary of the Air Force, Undersecretary of the Air Force, Chief of Staff of the Air Force, ViceChief of Staff of the Air Force, Secretary of Defense-hosted Foreign Dignitaries, and equivalent foreign AirChiefs.

Air Force Historical Studies Office

The Air Force Historical Studies Office directly supports the Air Force Historian; and, conducts research andanalysis of the service’s major operational activities. Itpublishes books, monographs, studies and reportsdesigned to preserve the history and heritage of theUnited States Air Force. The office routinely providesinformation, analysis and perspective to senior Air Force leaders and their staffs in support of planning, policydevelopment, and decision-making. It also responds torequests for information about the Air Force’s history from government agencies, researchers, and privateorganizations.

Air Force Central Adjudication Facility

AFCAF is the Air Force security clearance authorityfor all Secret, Top Secret, Special CompartmentedInformation and Special Access Program eligibility for all active duty, Air National Guard, Reserve, civilian andcontractor employees and makes trustworthinessdeterminations for civilian, non-appropriated funds and contractor personnel occupying positions of trust.

Air Force Chaplain Service

The Air Force Office of the Chief of the Chaplains provides functional doctrine and policies to recruit, train, organize, equip and sustain an agile chaplain service in support of Air Force mission objectives and the freeexercise of religion.

Air Force Departmental Publishing Office

Located in Bldg. 94 at the Navy’s Anacostia Annex, AFDPO is the publishing manager for the Air Forcesecretariat and Air Force staff. AFDPO provides publishing products and services for administrative publicationsand forms to AF customers worldwide. AFDPO assiststhe office of primary responsibility with formattingand coordination requirements for publications anddesigning headquarters forms. AFDPO also managesthe Air Force Publishing Distribution Center (AFPDC),located in Essex, Md., which is the central repositoryfor storage and distribution of physical products usedAF-wide. It manages the centralized electronicrepository for storage and dissemination of digitizedpublications and forms from departmental down tobase level. And, it manages the central tagging operation that prepares all publications from headquarters to wing level for digital dissemination.

AFDPO is responsible for providing and maintaining the official software used for designing and filling out‘‘standard” Air Force forms and assisting functionalcommunities in developing interactive applications with more intelligent forms.

AFDPO manages the publicly accessible Web site on the Internet at http:⁄⁄www.e-publishing.af.mil⁄. Thiswebsite allows all Air Force customers to accessdigitized products or order physical products on-line. Using this website as a starting point, customers canautomatically search the publishing databases ofthe other services, plus the entire Department ofDefense.

U.S. Coast Guard

Coast Guard Station Washington is located at Bolling’s Capital Cove Marina. It’s anoperational unit responsiblefor ensuring the maritimesafety and security of theNational Capital Region.

Defense Intelligence Agency

The Defense Intelligence Agency is a Department ofDefense combat support agency and an importantmember of the United States intelligence community.

With more than 12,000military and civilian employees worldwide, DIA is a majorproducer and manager offoreign military intelligence. It provides military intelligence to warfighters, defensepolicymakers and force planners, in the Department of Defense and the intelligence community, in support of U.S. military planning and operations and weaponsystems acquisition.

The Director of DIA is a three-star military officer who serves as principal adviser to the Secretary of Defense and to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff on matters of military intelligence. The Director also chairs the Military Intelligence Board, which coordinates activities of thedefense intelligence community.

DIA is headquartered at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., with major operational activities at the DefenseIntelligence Analysis Center (DIAC), Washington, D.C., the National Center for Medical Intelligence (NCMI),Frederick, Maryland, and the Missile and SpaceIntelligence Center (MSIC), Huntsville, Ala.

DIA's workforce is as diverse as its missions. Theypossess a workforce skilled in the areas of military history and doctrine, economics, physics, chemistry, worldhistory, political science, bio-sciences, and computersciences to name a few.

Located within the DIAC is the National DefenseIntelligence College. NDIC is a regionally accreditededucation and research institution serving the United States intelligence community by preparing personnel for senior positions in the U.S. Armed Forces and thenational security structure. The college offers degree and certificate programs in intelligence at the graduate and undergraduate level. Since 1963, more than 80,000military and civilian students have completed courses or participated in the college's varied academic programs. The college is authorized by Congress to award abachelor of science degree in intelligence and a master of science degree in strategic intelligence. The college isaccredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges & Schools.

Civil Air Patrol

Bolling AFB is home to Civil Air Patrol’s National Capital Wing headquarters and Challenger 1 Cadet Squadronlocated at 200 McChord St., Suite 111. The NationalCapital Wing is the primary point of contact for allCAP activities and missions in the Washington, D.C., metro area. It currently has seven subordinate squadrons. Civil Air Patrol, the official auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, is a nonprofit organization with more than 56,000members nationwide. CAP performs 90 percent ofcontinental U.S. inland search and rescue missions as tasked by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center and was credited by the AFRCC with saving 103 lives in fiscal year 2007. Its volunteers also perform homeland security, disaster relief and counterdrug missions at the request of federal, state and local agencies. Members play a leading role in aerospace education and serve as mentors to the nearly 22,000 young people currently participating in CAP cadet programs. CAP has been performing missions for America for more than 66 years with ‘‘Citizens Serving Communities: Above and Beyond.”
