The 11th Wing provides a multitude of support to nearly 34,000 Air Force military and civilian members in 425 locations and 152 countries.

11TH OPERATIONS GROUP

The United States Air Force Band

The United States Air Force Band is the premier musical organization of the U.S. Air Force. Stationed on Bolling Air Force Base at historic Hangar II, The USAF Band’s official military life began Sept. 24, 1941, with the formation of the Bolling Army Air Forces Band.

The USAF Band conceived and pioneered the concept that a musical organization can be a nation’s most effective goodwill ambassador. Through numerous international concert tours with performances in more than 50 countries and 42 world capitals, the Band has come to be known as ‘‘America’s International Musical Ambassadors.” Additionally, the Band entertains troops deployed overseas and presents concerts from coast to coast through local performances and national concert tours.

Numbering more than 200 members, The USAF Band’s musical ensembles include the Air Force Strings, Airmen of Note, Ceremonial Brass, Concert Band, Max Impact, Silver Wings and Singing Sergeants. Collectively, the groupspresent more than 2,000 live performances annually.

The highly acclaimed Guest Artist Series, held onSunday afternoons in February and March, is presented annually at the 3,700-seat Daughters of the American Revolution Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C.Since 1966, the Guest Artist Series has attracted capacity audiences for concerts featuring guest performers ofnational and international prominence. The USAF Band’s popular Summer Concert Series is held regularly during June, July and August in the National Capital Region. The Jazz Heritage Series, presented each fall, features theAirmen of Note in concert with the world’s foremost jazz artists. The annual holiday concert series is presented the first weekend each December.

In addition to its regular programs in the NationalCapital Region, the USAF Band can be heard inperformances at area high schools, colleges, universities and concert halls. Best of all, performances are free and open to the public.

Air Force Chaplaincy at Arlington National Cemetery

Air Force Chaplain Service at the nation’s premiermilitary shrine is part of a team that provides the ‘‘final tribute on behalf of a grateful nation” at more than 1,400 chapel and graveside funeral services annually.

The United States Air Force Honor Guard

Bolling AFB is home to the more than 200 men and women of the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard responsible for performing in Air Force and joint service ceremonies, drill performances, parades and military funerals worldwide.

The Air Force Honor Guard represents the Air Force in a variety of military and civilian ceremonies conducted throughout Washington, D.C., including events at the White House, Pentagon, Arlington National Cemetery, the Air Force Memorial and the sacred Tomb of the Unknowns.

The Honor Guard also operates the Air Force’s only drill team, which is dedicated to inspiring Air Force awareness among military and civilian audiences. Through its complex drill routines the drill team attempts to personify the integrity, discipline, teamwork, and professionalism of every Airman and every Air Force mission.

11TH MISSION SUPPORT GROUP

11th Logistics Readiness Squadron

The 11th Logistics Readiness Squadron provides deployment, fuels, supply and transportation support to the Air Force, Department of Defense and other organizations in the National Capital Region including the secretariat, air staff, Headquarters Air Force, Air Force District of Washington, Bolling, Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Defense Intelligence Agency, the White House and Congress.

Services provided include deployment and support planning, traffic management, personal-property shipping, passenger travel, cargo movement, vehicle operations and maintenance, general supply and equipment account management, mobility bag management, hazardous materials tracking and unleaded and diesel fuel support. Organizational clothing and office supplies are available for purchase via the government purchase card at the Office Eagle store, co-located on base in Building 520.

11th Services Division

Superior quality-of-life programs and “five-star” customer service are standard for the 11th Services Division. Around the clock, almost 500 men and women of the division professionally serve customers throughout the National Capital Region with a variety of activities and services to include; the Bolling Inn, Bolling Club, child development and youth centers, outdoor recreation facilities, base fitness and aerobic centers, skills development center, auto skills center, and a base library, among others. At the same time, the division maintains a top state of readiness, prepared to support any contingency. 11th Services Division lives its motto “Combat Support and Community Service.”

11th Civil Engineer Squadron

The 11th Civil Engineer Squadron works proudly to operate, maintain and improve Bolling and other 11th Wing facilities for its worldwide customers while maintaining optimal contingency and war-readiness capabilities. Its primary customers are the more than 2,300 military and civilian personnel assigned to Bolling, as well as more than 5,000 family members. The squadron ensures people have the best facilities and live and work in a safe, clean environment. In addition, 11th CES directly supports over 6,500 Air Force personnel working in the Pentagon, which includes Air Force senior leadership.

11th Mission Support Squadron

The 11th Mission Support Squadron provides base-level military personnel, academic educational services, airman and family readiness, and professional military educational programs supporting 40,000 customers in the National Capital Region and around the world. 11th MSS also provides critical support to the White House, Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the secretary of the Air Force, the chief of staff of the Air Force, as well as several joint agencies, and serves a retiree population of over 25,000. The squadron has branches on Bolling and in the Pentagon.

11th Contracting Squadron

The 11th Contracting Squadron provides contracting support to 11th Wing and its tenant organizations on Bolling AFB and provides contingency contracting support worldwide. The contracting squadron works as a team with its customers to ensure they have the right product, on time, every time to do their mission.

11th Security Forces Squadron

The primary mission of the 11th Security Forces Squadron is to provide expeditionary force protection, police and technical security to Bolling AFB and the Pentagon, including the secretary of the Air Force and the chief of staff of the Air Force. The 11SFS also maintains a secure environment in support of the Air Force District of Washington, Defense Intelligence Agency, Joint Air Defense Operations Center and other critical agencies. The 11 SFS supports more than 40,000 active, dependent and retired personnel.

11TH WING STAFF

Director of Staff

The director of staff provides command management and a wide variety of functions to the 11th Wing and Air Force personnel assigned to the nation’s capital. Those services include safety, history, public affairs, command post, protocol, equal opportunity, anti-terrorism/force protection, financial management and plans, Inspector General and Staff Judge Advocate.

Equal Opportunity

The equal opportunity office is located in Bldg. 4 on the second floor. Its two primary functions are military equal opportunity and equal employment opportunity. The Air Force has a “zero” tolerance policy regarding discrimination. Although this office educates members on Air Force policies regarding discrimination and human relations, it also processes equal-opportunity complaints and acts as a referral agency to make sure problems are resolved by the appropriate agency and at the lowest level.

Public Affairs

The 11th Wing Public Affairs is the central point of contact for all communications- and community-related activities within and outside the wing. This includes media and community relations, and security and policy review. Additionally, the public affairs staff maintains the wing’s primary news source, the 11th Wing’s public Web site, at www.bolling.af.mil. Comptroller Squadron

Comptroller office employs over 30 personnel and is responsible for providing world-class financial services such as military pay, civilian pay, retired pay and travel pay to Air Force personnel in the National Capital Region. In addition, the unit delivers financial analysis, budget and accounting support to 11th Wing units and tenants located on Bolling AFB. Effective Summer/Fall 2008, the office will be re-located to Bldg. P-20, second floor. Walk-in service is available daily or e-mail FMCUSTOMERSERVICE@bolling.af.mil.

Inspector General

The Inspector General’s office helps sustain a credible Air Force Fraud, Waste and Abuse complaint resolution program supporting more than 42,000 customers assigned to the 11th Wing, Air Staff, Secretariat, Joint Staff, Office of the SECDEF, Air Force Elements, and Field Operating Agencies in the National Capital Region and around the world. It helps commanders ensure responsive Complaint Investigations and Fraud, Waste and Abuse programs. The IG office ensures the concerns of all complainants and the best interest of the Air Force are addressed through objective fact-finding. Besides investigations, the IG office’s responsibilities include educating Air Force members, Department of Defense civilians, commanders and supervisors regarding rights of protection for those contacting an IG. Inspections and Exercises

The 11th Wing Inspections and Exercises office prepares wing personnel to succeed in military inspections by running a bi-annual self-inspection program. It also creates and executes training exercise scenarios on base and helps the Exercise Evaluation Team compare unit performance and readiness with recognized Air Force standards and measures. The 11th Wing Inspections and Evaluations assists wing leadership in the decision-making process, providing detailed troop and unit performance information to the wing commander after each exercise or inspection.

Plans

The 11th Wing Plans Section provides oversight and specific guidance for the impact and implementation of all plans that pertain to the 11th Wing and tenant organizations and to ensure that requirements are within the capabilities of the wing. Specifically, XP maintains, reviews, and tasks for updating base-level war, contingency, and support plans to ensure compliance with policy and guidance from Air Force District of Washington, USAF, and DOD policy, instructions, and regulations. The plans section is responsible for incorporating the 11th Wing Commander’s strategic vision in all planning considerations.

Protocol

The chief of protocol provides protocol and ceremonial support for the 11th Wing. This includes itineraries for distinguished visitors, hospitality assistance for office calls, seating and parking for conferences and special events, and managing the commander’s gift locker. Ceremonial support for the 11th Wing includes changes of command, retirements and promotions, annual awards banquet, monthly promotion and quarterly awards ceremonies, 11th Wing commander’s calls and monthly observances. Advice and guidance provided by protocol includes script reviews, programs and seating plans, RSVPs, flags, invitations, entry authorization lists and parking.

Safety Office

The Safety office manages the Commander’s Mishap Prevention Program for Bolling AFB. Program elements include, but are not limited to: advise the commander, functional managers, and supervisors on safety and health matters; manage on- and off-duty safety programs; provide mishap prevention data and safety education material to all organizations; process hazard reports and manage the installation master hazard abatement program; review civilian compensation claims involving occupational injuries and hospital treatment records to ensure mishaps were properly investigated and reported in accordance with applicable OSHA and Air Force directives; conduct safety education programs; provide supervisors assistance with job safety training; ensure all mishaps are investigated properly and reported according to AFI 91-204; establish a proactive mishap prevention program that incorporates an inspection program, reasonable risk management and hazard elimination and reduction features.

Staff Judge Advocate

The staff judge advocate's office provides high-quality legal support in the areas of civil law, labor law, claims and military justice for courts-martial and non-judicial punishment actions. Located in the wing headquarters building at Bolling, the staff judge advocate's office serves the 11th Wing, field operating agencies and Air Force elements in non-Air Force activities in the National Capital Region and worldwide. The office also provides legal assistance to individual military members, retirees and family members on personal, civil legal matters.

Wing Chaplaincy

The wing chaplaincy provides pastoral care to the wing, base tenants, the Pentagon, and the National Capital Region through unit visitation, counseling, worship services and religious education. The chapel staff at Bolling AFB is comprised of chaplains, chaplain assistants, civilian personnel and volunteers working together to provide a host of support services for families and singles. Chaplains assigned to the wing also provide invocations and benedictions, officiate at weddings, and perform funerals throughout the region.
