RECREATION

Clubs
The Clubs At Quantico is a $7.5 million state-of-the-art facility located in Building 3017, next to the Quantico Pool. The tri-modular construction houses the Officers’, Staff Noncommissioned Officers’ and Enlisted Clubs, as well as the Marathon Restaurant and Officers’ Dining Room. The facility offers complete dining services and entertainment programs in each lounge and banquet facilities. A full catering service is available to all patrons. Base Theater
Located in Little Hall, Building 2034, the theater shows near-first-run movies five days a week to all eligible MCCS patrons for $2 per adult and $1 per child. The concession stand is open only during movie showings or special events. To schedule command events, call (703) 784-2279. Bowling Center
Located in the lower deck of Little Hall, Building 2034, the bowling center offers “Glo Bowling,“ which creates a club-like atmosphere with fog machines, a light show and the latest music. Individual units aboard Quantico are authorized to include bowling as part of their PT regimens and have priority for lane usage on Wednesday afternoons. The bowling center is available for birthday parties,promotion ceremonies, and league bowling. Call (703) 784-2210 for information.

Golf Course
The “Medal of Honor“ Golf Course offers eligible patrons, including DoD contractors and all honorbly dischargedveterans, a wide variety of golfing activities. Located off Fuller Road, this facility offers an 18-hole course, practice range, practice putting green, pro shop, locker rooms, banquet-sized pavilion and a new clubhouse and eatery. Information, Tickets and Tours Office
Recreation⁄Information, Tickets and Tours is located at the Marine Corps Exchange, Building 3500. The facility offers information and brochures about many local and regional attractions. The staff searches out “hot spots“suitable for individual family outings and⁄or tours of special interest to their customers.

A variety of recreational classes in dance, youthgymnastics and martial arts are offered in Larson Gym, Building 2112. Contact the Rec⁄ITT office at (703) 432-8850 for the latest class schedule and fees.

Rec⁄ITT offers discount tickets and coupons to many local attractions: Kings Dominion, Busch Gardens, Six Flags America, Colonial Williamsburg and the MCI Center. For more information ,call (703) 432-8850.

Leisure Travel (All Points Travel)
Located in the Information, Tickets and Tours office in the Marine Corps Exchange, Building 3500, Russell Road. Provides discounts on travel, lodging or combinationpackages. For more information, call (703) 432-8852.

Lunga Park
Nestled along a 420-acre reservoir, located approximately 7.5 miles west of the south gate to Marine Corps Base Quantico on road MCB-4. The park boasts a wide selection of outdoor activities, besides fishing and picnicking. Hiking, camping, boating, and bird watching are just some of the things you will find yourself enjoying in thenatural beauty of the area.

Marina
Located in the Town of Quantico at the east end of Potomac Avenue in Building 25. The marina has over 100 slips, offering daytime, overnight and long-term berthing for boats up to 50 feet in length, most with electric and water hookups. It has restroom and shower facilities, a pump-out station and a small resale service that sells gas, oil, ice, and other boat supplies on site. Parks & Recreation
The administrative office is located on the 2nd floor of Larson Gym, Building 2112. The program offers a widevariety of recreational activities to include boating, fishing, picnicking, camping, swimming, and special events. Call the main office at (703) 784-2014.

Single Marine Program
This program encourages single service members to plan recreational⁄social activities and participate in community service. Meetings are held monthly at The Clubs At Quantico, Building 3017, and are attended by unit representatives from across MCB Quantico. For more information, call (703) 784-5626.

Quantico Pool
Adjacent to The Clubs At Quantico, just off Dunlap Circle, is a 50-meter, Olympic-size pool for the whole family. The pool has a low and high dive, two water slides, children’s swimming pool with a slide; all available for private parties by reservation. Call (703) 784-2973 for information. Qualified American Red Cross Water Safety instructors conduct “learn-to-swim“ lessons each summer on Tuesdays and Fridays. Call the Parks & Recreation office at (703) 784-2973.

SPORTS

Recreation Business
The administrative office for Recreation Activities islocated in Larson Gymnasium, Building 2112. The program offers a wide variety of recreational activities designed to help patrons stay in shape and enjoy their leisure time. Golfing, boating, bowling, recreation classes, auto skillscenter, special events, discount ticket sales and more are available. Athletics
The Quantico MCCS Athletic Program is designed to assist Marines in promoting morale and esprit de corps, while keeping physically fit and mentally alert, and to fulfill the leisure needs and interests of military personnel, their family members and eligible DoD civilians. The program provides recreational, informal and competitive athletic activities. The sports program is composed of five elements:All-Marine and higher levels of competition, intramurals,varsity sports, recreational and informal walk-in activities.

All-Marine Sports
Quantico is frequently asked to host other All-Marine, Armed Forces and national events. The athletic officeprovides support and assistance to Quantico Marines into the All-Marine sports program.

Intramurals
Intramurals provide opportunities for participation in a wide range of individual and dual sports for both men and women. The varsity sports teams participate in the Washington Area Military Athletic Conference and localmilitary and civilian tournaments and leagues.

Recreational Activities
These low-key, competitive activities promote mass participation, enjoyment and socialization in organized sports. Current recreational activities include softball and volleyball, but additional sports will be included as interest levelsdictate. Outdoor facilities include four athletic fields and two tennis courts. These refer to self-directed participation in competitive, cooperative, and individual activities. Access to facilities is open, without imposed design or direction.

Youth Sports
Youth Sports provides a coed and inclusive (special needs children) recreational and instructional sports program that includes the three sports of-basketball, baseball and soccer. Emphasis is placed on fair and equal play, no matter the skill level, that teaches teamwork, good sportsmanship and improving skill level. All Youth Sport coaches are volunteers and must be certified under the National Youth Sports Coach Association. Training includes basic coaching, coaching children with disabilities (inclusion), and sport specific.

The Youth Sports director and assistant director are both certified clinicians under the National Alliance for Youth Sports and teach training classes for coaches. All coaches are also required to undergo background checks. More than 100 volunteers participate in the Youth Sports program. Semper Fit Branch
The Semper Fit Branch consists of a combined team of professionals with specialized expertise in sportsmanagement, health promotion and education, fitness and road race management, parks, aquatics and recreation. The branch’s mission is to encourage, support and inspire healthy life styles by administering a “well rounded“program that promotes personal involvement. Walk-inactivities refer to self-directed participation in competitive, cooperative, and individual activities.

Health Promotion
The Semper Fit Health Promotion Center is located in the Barber Physical Activity Center, Building 2073, Barnett Avenue, which is staffed by both Navy medical and Marine Corps personnel. The center offers micro-fit assessments, and evaluations of your current fitness level. Using this information, apersonal trainer from the physical fitness department can design an individual exercise program.

The Semper Fit Center also provides awareness classes and briefs to individual units for annual training and professional military education. Physical Fitness
The Quantico Physical Fitness Program is located in the Barber Physical Activity Center, Building 2073, Barnett Avenue. Fitness programs include fitness assessment and exerciseprescriptions, cardio-vascular conditioning programs, strength training and conditioning, group exercise programs, healthpromotion and exercise assistance, annual race services, the annual Semper Fit Fair, CPR training, massage therapy, thefitness lecture series and a variety of specialty programs. RELIGIOUS PROGRAMS

Quantico Religious Programs
Marine Corps Base Quantico provides a comprehensive Command Religious Program for all living in the surrounding communities. Located in Lejeune Hall. The Command Religious Program provides chaplains of various faith group backgrounds to Marine Corps Combat Development Center, Officer Candidates School, The Basic School, Headquarters and Service Battalion, Security Battalion and provides chaplain coverage to other units and commands on base. As a Religious Ministry Team, the chaplains are assisted by religious program specialists to provide access to the free exercise of religion for all. Thecommand chaplain’s office can aid in joining with the many active services on board the base, finding a local civilian faith group or talking with a chaplain. United States Marine CorpsMemorial Chapel
The United States Marine Memorial Chapel, located near Lejeune Hall, is one of the noteworthy landmarks at Quantico. It was dedicated Nov. 10, 1957, to the memory of all Marines and their Navy comrades who have died in the service of their country.

Shortly after the completion and dedication of the chapel, a voluntary fund drive was begun to install glass windows appropriate to the memorial nature of the chapel. Eighteen strikingly etched glass windows combinereligious motifs with Marine Corps history scenes from 1775 to recent times.

Another item of historical interest is the communion rail. It was fashioned out of remnants of deck planking from eight battleships and cruisers that supported Marine Corps amphibious operations in World War II. For more information, call (703) 784-2131.
