Naval Support Facility Indian Head Guide
MISSION
Sustain combat readiness through effective and efficient shore installation management and support.
VISION Naval Support Activity South Potomac (NSASP) was established on Nov. 3, 2005 as a component of Naval District Washington to provide shore installation management services for Naval Support Facility (NSF) Indian Head. Shore installation management functions (now under NSASP authority) encompass all land, buildings, and support services. As the base landlord, Naval Support Activity South Potomac provides management functions for all tenant commands located on board NSF Indian Head, including:
Consolidation of Navy Shore Installation Management As part of CNIC, all naval installations within the National Capital Region aligned with Naval District Washington (NDW). The Naval District Washington, one of 10 regional commands in the United States, now provides SIM services to naval installations inside the National Capital region. The Navy's goal in establishing CNIC is to have a single advocate for shore installations, to establish Navy-wide business practices, and to generate savings for Navy investment. CNIC will create a more focused, leaner organization, while improving services. The objective is to reduce redundancy in the SIM process, and enable other Navy activities to focus on their primary missions. The goals of CNIC are:
Total Employees (stationed at NSF Indian Head) 109 Military 4 Civilian 105
